The new year is a good timing to start something new, especially something you haven’t tried before.
A couple weeks ago, Air Canada, the largest airline in Canada and one of the best-rated airlines in the North America releases information regarding their new livery and the new uniform for its employees.
I was very surprised about this new livery. Air Canada’s current livery is still great and modern design which they could use the next 20 years for sure. When Air Canada introduced the current light blue livery, it was a turning point for airlines’ liveries. Before that, most of the airlines had very bright vivid colors for their liveries and none of them used light neutral color for liveries. And Air Canada’s current livery still look good and people can easily recognize that’s Air Canada’s aircraft.
The new livery looks very classic, in a good way, but also in a bad way. It looks like a concept design of new aircraft, especially the dark shade on the front windows around the cockpit. Without the Air Canada logo, it’s very hard to identify which airline’s aircraft it is. The new livery also looks like the one used in decades ago, when other airlines used vivid bright colors for their logos and liveries. Bring the classic taste n design would be nice, but I think it would be nice if they added some notable essence of Air Canada to show their identities.

Seat is one of the most important elements of any flights and I always choose my seat very carefully.
Except some regional flights, most of the flights in the world, you can book your seat in advance.
I am a student and cannot afford to pay $5,000.00 for just going home with business class. So I always stick with economy class (or coach class), unless I have tons of millage in my airline millage membership account and be able to get free business class ticket (or even premium economy class ticket).
Choosing the most comfortable seat/aircraft is one of the most important priority for me and I always use website called Seatguru.
In this website, when you select an airline you fly with and aircraft (aircraft information is usually written on e-ticket or booking confirmation email).

The seat shown with color has specific meanings, for example the seats colored with green is considered as good seats like exit row seats with extra legroom.

I have so many things I want to try in my future, including some flights I dream to fly in my future. I am a person who doesn’t mind a long flight, even 15 hour in economy class. So, that makes me to think about to try even longer flights to know my limit.
The first one is the flight from New York (JFK)/Newark (EWR) to Hong Kong (HKG), flights CX831, 841, 845, 899, which is approximately 17 hour. The flight is operated by Cathay Pacific Airways (CX). This route of this flight is both of westbound and eastbound (and operator decides the route on the day of the flight). In most of the cases, the airplane flies over the North Pole and passengers can see beautiful islands covered by snow from airplanes’ windows.
The second one is from Hong Kong (HKG) to Bangkok (BKK) operated by Emirates Airline (EK), flight EK385. The reason why I want to fly this flight is this is one of the most easiest way to try Emirates Airline’s A380 business class (with gorgeous inflight lounge). It’s a good way to try out their business class bar and lounge in A380.
Airplanes carry not only passengers and cargo, but they also carry passengers’ dreams. When I travel, I get so excited to plan what to do during the trip and also the flight itself. In my opinion, traveling starts from planning to decide where I fly and decide what route I would take. There are millions of flights in the world and those above are the three of them that I want to fly in the future.

Safety is the most important things during the flight, so that to pay attention safety information sheet and safety video are important. However, almost nobody pay attention the most important information provided by airlines, which all passengers are expected to know ironically.

Virgin America made revolution in safety video in 2013. Their innovative safety video is very catchy and easy to get passengers’ attention. Their innovation has changed passengers’ attitude towards the safety instruction from nobody pays attention and boring moment to enjoyable and eye-catching time before an airplane take off.
Air Canada one is more traditional and informative safety video with a lot of contents with clear explanations. There are clear visual images and instructions, which makes people who don’t speak English or French easier to understand. However, people who fly a lot have seen those kind of video hundreds of times and may be bored to watch another similar safety video.

Air France’s safety video has both of clear instructions and an elements of entertainment. In this way, passengers still pay attention to the safety video and be able to understand the instructions well.
Use of celebrities is another way to get passengers’ attentions. Qatar Airways collaborated with FC Barcelona, the world famous soccer team and the soccer field to film the safety video. I like how they linked the soccer field and the airplane seats and equipment.
There is no right or wrong for safety videos, since all airlines’ safety videos are made based on the rules and regulations and reviewed by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). SO that it up to airlines to provide what types of format they use to deliver significant information to their passengers.
I personally prefer the traditional informative one, not only because my first language is not English, but also there are clear instruction of what is the emergency procedures and the place of the emergency exits and equipment. Safety is the most important things in flight (and nobody wants to get injury or serious health issues during the travel), so I value the clear instruction rather than an excitement. In addition to that, I am good with watching music video-ish safety video for the daytime flight, however most of the flights I take are night or early morning flight and I just do not feel like watching a video with pop up-tempo music. I believe the combination of both of clear instructions and entertainment as Air France provides fits to both of day and night flights and be able to get passengers’ attentions.
