3 Nights 8 Days Trip Part 2

Welcome aboard!

Day 3, Part 2: Abu Dhabi Day 1

After arriving to Dubai International Airport, I took a taxi ride to Abu Dhabi, the capital city of United Arab Emirates.

DSC01788 DSC01791 DSC01799 DSC01785On the way to Abu Dhabi, I saw so many interesting buildings and endless desert.

After 2 hour 20 min of taxi ride (there was a traffic at the highway close to Abu Dhabi, so it took longer than the time mentioned in travel info), I arrived the hotel that I will spend the first night of this trip.

HYATT Capital Gate Abu Dhabi, the reason why I chose this hotel is because this building is certified as “The World Furthest Learning Manmade Tower,” by Guinness World Records.

When I arrived at the hotel, it was at 10 AM and official check in time was 3 PM, however the receptionist told me that I could check in. So then, I did early check in since I was tired from two nights of flights.

DSC01823 DSC01813 DSC01814 DSC01819The room looks very stylish and modern with great view of Abu Dhabi. I was surprised that this room is categorized as a cheapest room in this hotel,

So many of you may think “Why Abu Dhabi?, Whu not Dhubai?” I have reason why I decide to visit Abu Dhabi, instead of spending time in Dubai longer.

There are some interesting things in Abu Dhabi that I really wanted to see, such as Grand Mosque, Emirates Palace Hotel, and Ferrari World.

So I decided to go to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, as a start of my discovery in Abu Dhabi.

DSC01841DSC01843DSC01885DSC01878Surprisingly, the inside of the Ferrari World looked a bit empty. So that I went to ride “Formula Rossa,” as known as the fastest roller coaster in the world.

DSC01874DSC01845The speed of the coaster reaches 240km/hour within 1 second after it starts. It was so much different than any other roller coasters I’ve ever tried. It’s fast, long and extreme. Everyone has to wear safety glasses to protect eyes from sands and wind.

Later on the day, I went to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, one of the landmark of Abu Dhabi.

It was one of the most beautiful building I’ve ever seen in my life and it impressed me so much. I enjoyed Abu Dhabi so much and after I get to hotel, I ate dinner (I didn’t take any picture in restaurant, sine the lighting was very dark in the restaurant) and slept after I had very long day.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day!

3 Nights 8 Days Trip Part 1

Welcome aboard!

This is my first travel post!

As the title shows, I had 3 nights 8 days trip. I’m sure many people thinks that travel usually sounds like “3 nights 4 days” or  “3 nights 5 days” if you travel somewhere far. However, in this time I had “3 nights 8 days” trip, so that means I had simply 4 nights in airplanes.

As always, I start my trip by taking this picture of sign at YVR airport.

Day 1: Departure

I get a window side seat this time, so I took a picture of engine.

Dinner and breakfast are provided, since it is a long haul flight.

After 12 hour 30 minutes, I arrive in Hong Kong International Airport.

Day: 2 Transit

Since I fly over the international date line, it’s day 2.

After 6 hours of transit at Hong Kong International Airport, I’m flying to the next destination, Dubai. Since the flight CX745 is from Hong Kong to Bahrain through Dubai, the flight information board shows “Hong Kong to Bahrain”

Day 3: Another Flight

Since, it’s 1:40 AM, it’s day 3 of 8 days trip.

One of the main purpose of this trip is redeeming millage. Last year, I had more than 100,000 miles in my account and it was about to expire, so I decided to redeem it for free business class trip to Dubai.

The seat looks completely different than economy class seats. The seat is called “Cirrus” made by Zodiac Aerospace. It has 15 inch display, personal storage beside seat (including shoes storage), and the biggest feature of this seat is that the seat becomes a flat bed,.

This 9 hour flight departs from Hong Kong at 1:40 AM and arrive in Dubai at 7:00 AM, they provide dinner and breakfast. I tried to take some pictures of the food during the flight, but since the lighting in flight is not blight enough, I only shot low quality picture of food…

I’m surprised that they provide very good latte in the airplane and it was perfect taste for breakfast.

After 8 hour 30 minutes, the airplane start descending to Dubai International Airport (DXB). After landing, I saw so many Emirates Airlines’ airplanes because Dubai is their hub airport.

After that, I go through the immigration and customs, then go to the exit to take a taxi to my destination.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day!

Process Post 1

From this week, my new semester in school has started. In this semester (3 and a half months), I will be focusing on building my own brand and services on this website as a blog page.

We talked about 25 seconds elevator pitch. Pitch, the concise introduction of myself/my brand is very important to grow my brand as it is important to introduce a concise explanation of my brand in 25 seconds when I’m in a business meeting or other opportunities to meet people.

So, here is a very brief introduction to my blog…

Contrail and Runways is a blog for people who are passionate about the aviation industry.  There are 3 parts on this blog. The first one is “Travel Experiences.” the blog posts for reviewing flights, hotels, and places I’ve been. The second part is “Travel Items” the review blog posts of travel goods I’ve used, such as a passport case and a suitcase. The third part is “Discover Airplanes/Airports/Airlines,” is a part I introduce some latest aviation news and interesting facts about the aviation industry.

Seat Selection for Flights

Welcome aboard!

When you fly to somewhere by airplane, what would you imagine about your flight?

Food, in-flight entertainment, or seat that you will be seating for the next 15 hour?

Seat is one of the most important elements of any flights and I always choose my seat very carefully.

Except some regional flights, most of the flights in the world, you can book your seat in advance.

I am a student and cannot afford to pay $5,000.00 for just going home with business class. So I always stick with economy class (or coach class), unless I have tons of millage in my airline millage membership account and be able to get free business class ticket (or even premium economy class ticket).

Choosing the most comfortable seat/aircraft is one of the most important priority for me and I always use website called Seatguru.

In this website, when you select an airline you fly with and aircraft (aircraft information is usually written on e-ticket or booking confirmation email).

Example of Cathay Pacific’s 777-300ER Here is the example of Seatguru page and when you open the link, you will see the airplane seat map. If you already know your seat, you can click the seat and see is there is any special information about the seat. The seat shown with color has specific meanings, for example the seats colored with green is considered as good seats like exit row seats with extra legroom.

Using this website would help you to choose a good seat for your flight and I recommend to use this website if you are about to book a flight in the future.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day!

Flights That I Dream to Fly

Welcome aboard!

I have so many things I want to try in my future, including  some flights I dream to fly in my future. I am a person who doesn’t mind a long flight, even 15 hour in economy class. So, that makes me to think about to try even longer flights to know my limit.

The first one is the flight from New York (JFK)/Newark (EWR) to Hong Kong (HKG), flights CX831, 841, 845, 899, which is approximately 17 hour. The flight is operated by Cathay Pacific Airways (CX). This route of this flight is both of westbound and eastbound (and operator decides the route on the day of the flight). In most of the cases, the airplane flies over the North Pole and passengers can see beautiful islands covered by snow from airplanes’ windows.

CX New Lively

The second one is from Hong Kong (HKG) to Bangkok (BKK) operated by Emirates Airline (EK), flight EK385. The reason why I want to fly this flight is this is one of the most easiest way to try Emirates Airline’s A380 business class (with gorgeous inflight lounge). It’s a good way to try out their business class bar and lounge in A380.

You can see the inside of Emirates Airline’s A380 through google map. From this link, you can discover the inside of Emirates A380 and what the seats look like.

The third one is from Newark (EWR) to Singapore (SIN) which is currently not operated (used to be flight SQ21). This flight used to be operated by Singapore Airlines with A340-500 and it took 18 hour 40 minutes. They stopped to operate because of the expiration of lease contract between them and Airbus. However Singapore Airlines will start to operate in 2019 when they receive brand new A350ULR.

Airplanes carry not only passengers and cargo, but they also carry passengers’ dreams. When I travel, I get so excited to plan what to do during the trip and also the flight itself. In my opinion, traveling starts from planning to decide where I fly and decide what route I would take. There are millions of flights in the world and those above are the three of them that I want to fly in the future.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day!
